Tips to prepare you for Solo-Flying

Aviation students look forward to the day when they fly the aircrafts alone. Before you get there, you must have a number of flying lessons in Bristol with the instructor. For you to be ready for your first solo-flying experience, you need to take your pre-solo lessons seriously by learning as much as you can. The following tips will help you prepare for the solo-lessons;

1. Make sure your hands are on the controls – The only way to learn how to fly is to fly as often as possible. Do not leave the instructor to control the aircraft alone, keep your hands on the controls even if the instructor is controlling the aircraft. As the instructor controls the aircraft, you can learn by being keen on how they are manoeuvring the plane.

2. Ask as many questions as possible – Do not leave your flying lessons in Bristol with a question. Talk to your instructor and they will be happy to answer all your questions in a way that you can understand. At first, everything looks new and your instructor is aware of it so they are happy when they see you engaged with the lesson through questions.

3. Keep your eyes outside – Pilots are recommended to spend 90% of their time focusing outside instead of focusing at the flight instruments. The instruments should only act as validation for what is outside. When you learn to focus on the outside more than on the instrument, you gain better piloting skills.

4. Take debriefs seriously – During debriefs, instructors critique your overall performance. Learn and try not to repeat mistakes over and over again. Your instructor wants you to become the best so do not be afraid to work with them.
